Our American Autumn print is a rather thorny and complex print, inspired by a beautiful fragment of hand painted block print in Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. It was imported to the United States in the 1770s. Only an 8" square survived, and the original repeat is incomplete. We've extrapolated the missing sections based on the physical limitations of hand block printing. American Autumn is printed on 45" wide cotton as close in texture, hand, and weight as we could match to historical apparel cotton examples we've had access to.
We respectfully honor MFA's image copyright. Please visit them to view the inspiration for our American Autumn print.
If you are ordering more than five yards, please leave a note with your preferred cuts during checkout. As a handmade block print, this fabric lengths are limited by the size of the printers' tables.

Each yard of fabric is made by hand. There will be slight irregularities that are a natural, desirable, and historically accurate part of the crafting process. Our printer is a multi-generational family business that uses AZO-free and vegetable dyes. They are better for our artisan's health and the environment than the dyes modern commercial printers use, but the dyes may bleed when cared for improperly.
For best results, we strongly recommend using a cold, delicate machine cycle, or hand washing.
